Note historique et biographique:
Anne de Bretagne, née le 25 janvier 1477 à Nantes et décédée le 9 janvier 1514 à Blois, est la fille du duc de Bretagne François II. Elle devient duchesse de Bretagne à la mort de son père et est reine de France deux fois : d'abord en 1491 en épousant Charles VIII, puis en 1499 en épousant Louis XII.
Son règne sur le duché de Bretagne commence après la victoire décisive du roi de France en 1488 à Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, juste avant la mort de François II. Pour échapper à l'emprise royale, la cour de Bretagne la marie en 1490 à Maximilien d'Autriche, régent des Pays-Bas bourguignons, mais ce mariage par procuration provoque l'hostilité de Charles VIII et de la régente Anne de France, conduisant à l'offensive de 1491, la prise de Rennes et son mariage avec Charles VIII le 6 décembre à Langeais. Anne s'efforce ensuite de maintenir l'autonomie du duché, qui ne sera intégré au royaume de France qu'en 1532, après sa mort.
Anne hérite du comté de Montfort de son père et reçoit le comté d'Étampes en 1512. Par son mariage avec Maximilien, elle devient reine des Romains (1490-1491). Elle est reine de France de 1491 à 1498 et de 1499 à 1514, reine de Naples de 1501 à 1503, et duchesse de Milan de 1499 à 1500 et de 1501 à 1512 dans le cadre des guerres d'Italie.
Le premier descendant d'Anne de Bretagne par succession cognatique est le chef de la maison royale de Bavière, François de Bavière.

Historical and Biographical Note:
Anne of Brittany, born on January 25, 1477, in Nantes and deceased on January 9, 1514, in Blois, was the daughter of Francis II, Duke of Brittany. She became Duchess of Brittany upon her father's death and was Queen of France twice: first in 1491 by marrying Charles VIII, and then in 1499 by marrying Louis XII.
Her reign over the Duchy of Brittany began after the decisive victory of the King of France in 1488 at Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, shortly before the death of Francis II. To escape royal control, the Breton court married her in 1490 to Maximilian of Austria, regent of the Burgundian Netherlands, but this proxy marriage provoked the hostility of Charles VIII and the regent Anne of France, leading to the 1491 offensive, the capture of Rennes, and her marriage to Charles VIII on December 6 in Langeais. Anne then strove to maintain the duchy's autonomy, which would only be integrated into the Kingdom of France in 1532, after her death.
Anne inherited the County of Montfort from her father and received the County of Étampes in 1512. Through her marriage to Maximilian, she became Queen of the Romans (1490-1491). She was Queen of France from 1491 to 1498 and from 1499 to 1514, Queen of Naples from 1501 to 1503, and Duchess of Milan from 1499 to 1500 and from 1501 to 1512 as part of the Italian Wars.
The first descendant of Anne of Brittany by cognatic succession is the head of the Royal House of Bavaria, Francis of Bavaria.
