Vieille famille d’orfèvres, bourgeoise de Bâle en 1486 avec Ulrich WENZEL, tondeur de drap, mort en 1524.
- Johann WENTZ, fils du prénommé, Docteur juridique, professeur de droit à l’université de Bâle, chanoine et prévôt du chapitre de St. Peter, recteur de l’université 1502, 1512 mort en 1518.
- Johann-Jakob WENTZ, petit-fils de Johann WENTZ, 1541, négociant en soieries, Lohnherr 1582, du Grand Conseil 1593, bailli impérial 1596-1605.
- Leonhard WENTZ, 1581-1655, orfèvre, conseiller 1629, membre des Treize 1630, Oberstzunstmeister 1650.
- Johannes WENTZ, fils du n°3 1608, orfèvre à Bâle 1632.

Historical and biographical note:
WENTZ.
Old family of goldsmiths, bourgeois from Basel in 1486 with Ulrich WENZEL, cloth shearer, died in 1524.
- Johann WENTZ, son of the first name, Doctor of law, professor of law at the University of Basel, canon and provost of the chapter of St. Peter, rector of the university 1502, 1512 died in 1518.
- Johann-Jakob WENTZ, grandson of Johann WENTZ, 1541, silk merchant, Lohnherr 1582, of the Grand Council 1593, imperial bailiff 1596-1605.
- Leonhard WENTZ, 1581-1655, goldsmith, advisor 1629, member of the Thirteen 1630, Oberstzunstmeister 1650.
- Johannes WENTZ, son of n°3 1608, goldsmith in Basel 1632.
- The family gave other goldsmiths and some members of the Grand Council...
