DESCRIPTION
MIRAFIORE et FONTANA FREDDA.
- Le Comté de Nice ou Countea de Nissa (niçois) appelé aussi Contea di Nizza (italien) est un ancien domaine vassal des Comtes et Ducs de Savoie.
La Dédition de Nice à la Savoie par la Provence en 1388, accueil le comte de Savoie Amédée VII le Rouge sous l’influence de Jean Grimaldi de Bueil, commandant de la garnison de Nice.
Le Pouvoir savoyard administre le nouveau comté sous l’autorité d’un gouverneur et anobli une partie de la population du comté de Nice qui rend hommage et prêtèrent serment de fidélité au représentant du comte de Savoie.
Amédée VII lance la création d'une nouvelle noblesse avec attribution d’armoiries qui se développera tout particulièrement au 17e et 18e siècle pour prendre fin en 1860.
Joseph Casal (1856-1930), niçois d’origine, s’intéressa au dépouillement des archives de l’ancien comté de Nice et fit paraître des extraits de son précieux travail, avec illustrations dans l’« Armanac niçart », revue fondée en 1903 avec Jules Eynaudi et Victor Rolland.
Son « Armorial nobiliaire et historique de l’ancien Comté de Nice et des Alpes-Maritimes » propose les armoiries des familles et des communes minutieusement coloriées à la gouache.
Avec l’autorisation du Conservateur de la Bibliothèque municipale de Nice.
